The Sharper Image 2 - Importance in Connections

Updated: Apr 5, 2023

A stubborn grandson listens to a story of his grandfather about a young couple who represented a big bank in a small country. A business conference would be held in Brazil where people come together to discuss new trends and opportunities pertaining to the business. As small representatives of the bank, the couple walked hand in hand towards the large conference halls. On their way there they saw a bearded man on a bench, sad and neglected. They approached him and asked how he was doing, while everyone else kept on walking. The man turned out to be one of the largest shareholders of the bank and really appreciated the warm feeling he received when the couple turned their attention to him. Where would one be without another? How two shots of the same people were made in unvaried moments. Small changes in posture seem to make the impersonal personal. A composition of friends who, for a few hours, felt younger than young. Convinced that they could take on the world, they shouldn't let the feeling of that time simply pass them by. People of different genders, sexualities, characters and ethnicities who agreed that it is pronounced 'pasta pesto' and not 'pesto pasta'. This is where teamwork, kindness, independence and synchronization are represented.

Aim for the benefits of social connections. Having friends and family fulfills a natural human need to belong, to feel supported and socially connected to others.

  • The generalized notion that you cannot make people happy if you are not happy yourself creates unnecessary difficult circumstances for those who find a source of happiness in making others happy.

  • The possibility in which one expects to utilize relationships without being a source of usefulness himself is impossible to understand.

  • If the childishness in me evokes the feeling of indestructibility, I never want to grow up.

Relationships can give us a sense of belonging in the group and a sense of unique identity in contrast to others in that group.

What is a friendship?

  1. Empathy is the ability to understand what is going on with a friend, to recognize how he or she is feeling, and to interact and respond accordingly. Being supportive of others in their bad times is a defining quality of a good friend, but being supportive of others in their good times is also essential.

  2. All forms of relationships are based on the principle that useful qualities are exchanged. The fairer and better these transactions, the better the relationship. Friendships are put to the test in bad times and the quality of a friendship determines how long one can do without the other's useful additions.
